Minor Surgical Procedures
The following information is regarding minor procedures at Cranbourne Road Medical Centre. These include removal of skin lesions including skin cancers IUD & Implanon insertions as well as other procedures.
In most cases your Doctor is assisted by one of the Nurses. The Nurses organise the proceedure including sterilisation of all equipment and ensuring that you are comfortable and well looked after during the time in our theatre.
All lesions removed are sent for microscopic examination at the Pathology laboratory.
Depending on the type of procedure, you may have stitches which will need to be removed at a follow up appointment in our treatment room. The time for this will vary and you will be instructed when to come back.
Most minor procedures cause a small degree of discomfort after the local anaesthetic wears off. You may need to take Panadol or Panadeine for pain relief. This usually settles after 24 to 48 hours.
There is an out of pocket expense involved in minor procedures to cover nursing and equipment costs.
The standard theatre fee is between $60 – $120, and there is a further out of pocket expense depending on the complexity of the procedure.
