Vasectomies

Despite what commonly heard a vasectomy is a safe and simple operation with no major complications or problems to be overly concerned about.

Men wishing to have a vasectomy need to make an appointment to discuss the possible side effects and the procedure to ensure it is the correct procedure for you.

The procedure usually takes 40 minutes but you are in the clinic for 60-90 minutes to ensure your are fine to go home afterwards. You will need another person to drive you home. The procedure is done under local anaesthetic which is well tolerated. Occassionally a sedative can be administered.

Most men have 2 – 5 days off after the procedure before returning to normal activities. We usually recommend to limit exercise until 7 days after the vasectomy.
